YAKUSUGILAND HIKING SELECTION

Yakusugiland is a great way to experience Yakushima if you don`t want a full day of challenging hiking, or if you want a hike that experiences true mountain trails without going deep into the island interior on foot.  From the Yakusugiland entrance there are a number of hikes available.    

 

 

FUREAINOMICHI & BUTSUDASUGI

The Fureainomichi and Butsudasugi courses are very well paved and very easy to get around.  These walks are designed for the less adventurous who merely want to get a little taste of Yakushima and the majestic yakusugi trees.

The Arakawahashi Course goes onto a forest trail and requires some sturdy footwear and a bit more fitness.  This is a nice hike for those who have only a half day from pick up to drop off.  There are a number of beautiful foot bridges to cross that offer spectacular views and photos.

 

 

The Kohana Course is great half day adventure that takes in some beautiful forest, swing bridges and ancient Yakusugi trees.  Some good balance is required as there are a few wooden ladders to negotiate.  This is a fantastic moderate hike that has a little bit of everything that mountainous Yakushima has to offer.
